Aren’t they adorable? (Yes)
I’ve more or less tried to do this before but not like this. I’ve had to rely on devices that either worked but not in HD or just impossible to set up and not Mac friendly. That or use in-game support for Twitch (looking at you, Black Ops 2).
Now, I have it all sorted. I got a new Elgato Game Capture HD this morning that on first tests seem to work. And is Mac friendly! (suck on that, Roxio). Streaming The O.C (or audio of it at least) thanks to a non-secure HDCP connection (or lack thereof).
I’ve been meaning to do this properly but only now am I starting to get my back into it and even more so now with the impending arrival of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (though their inclusion of livestreaming tools is a godsend). Not to mention, there are thoughts forming around my head in regards to a couple of neat plans I have in mind for it. But lets wait until after gamescom before I announce anything as I don’t have anything too specific formed out right now and there’s always the possibility of being called up for freelance cover during the show.
But I digress, lets do something to celebrate this! I need to do a more ‘fleshed out’ test and why not do it with a game that’s out…TODAY! After a Japanese launch a week or two ago (it’s not out in the US until next month), Pikmin 3 launches today in the UK, having moved platforms from the original Wii, where development was announced back in 2008, to Wii U at E3 2011 before last year’s E3 unveil. Even more exciting is the game is my introduction to the series! Neat!
I’m not able to stream on YouTube because I need to reach certain rules before I can stream there and Twitch can’t embed on here (it probably can on a WordPress.org blog, but not on a WordPress.com blog). Who knows, you might even hear my voice at various points.
I’ll begin streaming at around 4pm. Hit the link below to watch the stream. Can’t miss it.
See, can’t miss it. See you at 4pm!
EDIT: This wrapped up earlier but I never had a chance to get it onto YouTube properly due to a massive thunderstorm. Nevertheless, here it is on YouTube, embedded below. Protip: there’s a couple of audio glitches but I’ll have this fixed for the next livestream.
If you want to see the full thing in its glory (baring massive white noise from the livestream) without it being split into numerous parts, you can watch it here on Twitch.
