2016 is the new 2015.
On the day Naughty Dog announced a delay of 2015 to Spring 2016 for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Sony’s biggest title for the PS4 this year until said delay, Microsoft may also be losing one of its own big games from 2015 into next year in Quantum Break.
Rumours of a delay for the Remedy time-action Xbox One exclusive, which is also getting a live-action TV show with the game, surfaced earlier this week after a report on Dutch outlet Xbox Elite Team indicating a delay from sources and – I’m not quite sure of this bit thanks to the Google Translate being mangled – being internally communicated.
Further spice comes in the form of a Dutch Community Coordinator for Microsoft who had tweeted out the link. That tweet has since been deleted (though it has been screencapped – thanks to shinobi602 on NeoGaf).
Having been announced for a 2015 launch last Spring as part of a gamescom teaser trailer after the game missed last year’s E3, both parties are now staying silent on the report and whether there will be a push into 2016.
In a statement, a Microsoft spokesperson told me: “We do not comment on rumors or speculation.“
Remedy is also remaining quiet with the studio’s head of franchise Oskari Hakkinen telling me earlier today by email he had “nothing to comment on that.”
It’d be, personally speaking as a massive fan of Alan Wake, quite a shame if Quantum Break was pushed. But if being given more time results in a better game, so be it.
