And maybe other future big things?

We’re now at the halfway point of My Favourite Game’s second season with last night’s episode on Shenmue with Matt Reynolds of Digital Spy. We’re now onto the final five episodes of the season with Chucklefish’s Molly Carroll and The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask coming up next week. There’s been technical hurdles to overcome this season, but for the most part, I’m quite proud with how this season has turned out so far.

Only in the small space of six-and-a-half months since the podcast began, there’s been so far nothing but positive reaction and I’m happy people seem to like it. Thank you very much for taking the time out to listen to it, be it weekly or whenever possible. There’s lots of big plans in the pipeline for the show as part of its evolution. I’ll touch upon that, but for now, lets focus on the now and the short-term.

Season 1 episodes on YouTube were out day-and-date with its audio counterpart, but up until now, Season 2 episodes haven’t due to technical difficulties on my end. Now, I’m happy to say all of Season 2 to date has been uploaded – plus all of Season 1 (and Best of S1 special) – to a brand new, entirely dedicated YouTube channel for the show. You can get the link for it here. And of course, every ep from here on out will again be going up day-and-date with the audio version.

Each respective episode has been embedded in their respective posts for their episode on here, but here’s the direct links to all of the episodes on YouTube.

Episode One (Season Premiere): Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, by Leigh Alexander
Episode Two: The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, by Andrew Smith
Episode Three: Bayonetta, by Ria Jenkins
Episode Four: Shining Force, by Kaitlin Tremblay
Episode Five: Shenmue, by Matthew Reynolds

In addition, there’s now dedicated channels for the show! You can find it here on Facebook or here on Twitter as @MFGPodcast.

Finally, I’ve wanted to open the show up to more accessible platforms than just iTunes, a simple RSS or downloading the show directly from here. So, as a test run, next week’s episode with Molly and The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask will be on Soundcloud.

But the reason it’s only a test run is because Soundcloud restricts a certain amount of time if you’re a free user and only gives unlimited hours if you sign up to its highest tier. And to be quite honest, I don’t have £75 to spend on uploading by early May 21 episodes. There may be a solution to it, but for now, lets keep that in the ‘maybe’ folder.

Still, Molly’s episode will be on Soundcloud next week. You should definitely check it out, it’s a fun little episode.

And that’s it in the short-term. There’s still some massive plans to come, as I said. And now with Season 2 mostly out of the way, I can look ahead to Season 3 (there will be a Season 3, of course there will be). I already have one or two people who’ve been verbally interested to come on, but we’ll sort all of that out formally after E3. By the time Season 2 ends, people will be looking ahead to E3.

I started approaching people for Season 2 three weeks after Season 1 ended, but this time, it’s going to be a longer wait as everyone – myself included – will have switched to an E3 mentality. Plus, as much as I enjoy doing this, I’d like to take a longer break this time than just three weeks.

But Season 3 is just the beginning of what is being planned for the future of My Favourite Game. At the end of the year, I hope to do a special episode that fits with the theme of the show, but at the same time, doesn’t fit with it (if that sounds vague, that’s because it’s meant to – sorry!).

And then hopefully next year, a big, big project tied to My Favourite Game. No details yet as I’ve yet to even branch opinion on said project, but needless to say, it’s one I definitely want to do. There’ll be a survey of sorts after Season 2 comes out to test the water on some of these things, so please take part in it once it comes out to help determine the future of the show.

And with that, if you have any immediate feedback for Season 2 or the show as a whole, please don’t hesitate to do so. You can reach me personally by email here or on Twitter @JohnnyCullen.

Thanks for reading!
